Castlebar: First count
INDEPENDENT Michael Kilcoyne is the first councillor elected in the country. Kilcoyne topped the poll with 2,921 votes - well in excess of the 1,711 quota required.
Fianna Fail are polling well in the constituency with Lisa Chambers and Al McDonnell currently in second and third position in the polls.
Fine Gael is facing losing one if not two of their four seats in the constituency, with the Taoiseach's brother Henry Kenny currently in ninth place in the eight-seater area.
Sinn Fein look set to take one seat with Therese Ruane currenly in fourth position. Fine Gael's first candidate in the running is Cyril Burke who lies in fifth position in Castlebar after the first count.
Blackie Gavin of Fianna Fail and Eugene Lavin of Fine Gael are currently in seventh and eighth place respectively.
