SINN Fein Dail candidate Gerry Adams stood over his party's plans to "burn the bondholders" last night.
Despite criticism of his party's stance, he said it made no sense to throw "good money after bad" to rescue the banks.
"Perhaps those bondholders who you have burned wouldn't want to be doing business with you, but those other astute bondholders, who know you have sorted all of that out, would do," he told RTE.
It came as Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin warned: "I think a whole range of Independents being elected and Sinn Fein. . . could put pressure on the capacity of the country to get out of the economic crisis."
