Wishful thinking: Constituent has a more unusual request for election candidate
Even the most optimistic of election candidates have to admit there are some requests they just cannot deliver on.
South Dublin County Councillor Deirdre O'Donovan said she "laughed out loud" when she received one such request from one of her younger fans.
The young girl asked the candidate if she could "get a hamster".
Knocklyon native O'Donovan is running in the upcoming General Election as an Independent candidate for Dublin South-West constituency.
She received the 'issue' on the back of one of her poster cards.
"I just laughed out loud when I saw it," Cllr O'Donovan told Independent.ie.
"At the moment the majority of requests are to do with the current housing crisis, this one definitely stood out.
"I have two kids, aged eight and 10, so a lot of kids would know me.
"One of the kids from my daughter's class obviously thought I could help her out in some way.
"I'm not sure how thrilled her parents would be...it was just so funny. It's obviously one of her bigger issues."
