Mr Moran was speaking as he re-entered talks to form a minority Government with Fine Gael this morning.

"It's possible we could have a vote for Taoiseach tomorrow and Cabinet positions could be decided by Tuesday," he said.

His colleague Shane Ross cast doubt over Fine Gael hopes to have a vote for Taoiseach today as he wishes "to iron out cronyism."

Mr Ross said such issues would need to be discussed first, adding that Fine Gael predictions were optimistic.

"Fine Gael have been optimistic for the the past 10 weeks," he said before talks began today.

He added however that it would be "very likely" to have a vote on Taoiseach by the weekend.

His colleague Finian McGrath suggested that the idea of a vote today was dealt with last night.

"We already dealt with that in a gentlemanly and cordially way last night," he added.
