The independent had called for a full recount of votes late on Sunday evening, but was removed from the candidate list at the eleventh hour on Monday night.

She said she was feeling "tired, but delighted that we'd built a campaign over the last few months and came within forty odd votes of Tommy Broughan."

She also said it was important to verify the votes, adding she was concerned about some 150 votes being deemed invalid after not being stamped correctly.

"I am deeply concerned though that there were so many votes in the constituency where voters did express a clear preference but their votes hadn't been counted because polling clerks didn't do their jobb and didn't stamp them properly."

This constituency could yet come down to somebody winning or losing their seat on a dozen or so votes, and I think it's shocking that there are more than 150 votes where people expressed a clear preference, went to the bother of voting last Friday and their votes have come to nothing."
