Elderly sisters tied up during Donegal robbery

Greg Harkin

GARDAI and PSNI officers have launched a cross-Border manhunt after two elderly sisters were tied up and threatened during another aggravated burglary in County Donegal.

The women, aged 91 and 89, were attacked at their farmhouse at Feddyglass, between Raphoe and Lifford at 5pm on Monday.

Three men ransacked the house, jostled the elderly ladies and then locked them inside the house.

Gardai say the gang did take a number of items during the raid.

Inspector Goretti Sheridan said detectives were keen to trace a UK-registered silver Ford Focus which was in the area at the time of the incident.

"One of the sisters was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where she was treated for shock," she said.

The women had been the victims of thieves before several years ago.

The crime took place just a few miles from the Border with Tyrone and Gardai are liaising with colleagues in the PSNI in Strabane.
