Eircom announces €100m plan for new TV service
A major telecoms firm is to start supplying television over the internet, writes Shane Hickey.
Eircom will spend €100m upgrading its infrastructure, which will allow for 'superfast' broadband to consumers.
The company said yesterday it will roll out improved fibre networks, which make much faster broadband possible.
The announcement of the new infrastructure came as Eircom said it will be offering television channels over the web and straight to people's TVs by next year. The company said it was "too early" to say how much the new service would cost.
