Eight people arrested in relation to spate of burglaries in upmarket Dublin suburb

EIGHT people have been arrested in relation to a number of burglaries in the Dun Laoghaire area of Dublin.
“As part of Operation Acer a local operation was put in place by Gardaí from the Detective Units, Crime Task Force and Drugs units based in Dun Laoghaire and Blackrock to combat burglaries in the Dun Laoghaire, Blackrock, Dundrum and Cabinteely areas,” a garda spokesman said.
“During the operation to date Gardaí have recovered jewellery, clothing, computer and electronic equipment and a car.
Today, as part of the operation, Gardaí searched houses in Tallaght and Wicklow and arrested seven men - ranging in ages from 19 to 23 years - and one female (21).
Two of the men and the woman were arrested on foot of bench warrants and are due to appear before Dun Laoghaire and Tallaght District Courts this morning.
The remainder are being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, as amended, at Dun Laoghaire, Dundrum and Blackrock Garda stations.
