Top dealsaround that will save you and your family cash on bills

AFTER years of austerity and countless tough budgets, there are few families that are not feeling a financial pinch at the moment.

To help make the expense of getting children ready for going back to school we have teamed up with Simon Moynihan of price comparison site Bonkers.ie to tell you about some of the best deals out there.

Electricity and gas

The best dual fuel offer is Energia's SaveMe Dual Fuel

tariff.

The average household cost is €1,883 for one year. You must pay by direct debit and manage the account online.

Sign up before August 31 to get this deal. The contract is for one year.

Best electricity offer

Electric Ireland's ValueSaver tariff will cost the average household €1,058 for a year.

You must pay by direct debit, manage your account online and sign up for one year.

This deal is for new/returning customers. Existing customers can sign up to Electric Ireland's ValueReward tariff - which offers 8pc off Electric Ireland's standard rates. It works out at €1,130 per year for an average household.

The best electricity offer for existing Electric Ireland customers is with SSE Airtricity which will cost the average household €1,070 for a year.

You must pay by direct debit, manage your account online and sign up for one year.

You can avail of an optional budget plan to spread the cost over the course of a year.

Best gas offer

Flogas Optimiser Tariff's is the best bet. The average household cost is €853 for a year.

You must pay by direct debit. Flogas does not have an online billing facility.

Broadband (unlimited deals only) with phone and call packages

UPC - Fibre 60 Chat with Freetime World works out at €309 in the first year (including discounts) - €14.50 for the first six months, then €37 a month.

Sky Broadband Unlimited + Talk Freetime offer is €420 in the first year (including discounts) - €30 first for six months, then €40 per month.

Eircom - eFibre Unlimited + Talk Off-Peak is €432 in the first year (including discounts) - €24 first for six months, then €48 a month.

Best broadband 
on its own

Vodafone Simply Broadband works out at €420 in the first year - €35 a month for speeds of up to 100Mbps. There are unlimited downloads.

It comes in over the phone line, but does not include a call package.

Best value TV deals

UPC - Digital+ value works out at €348 for the first year (including discounts) - €29 per month.

Sky Original Bundle is €385 (including equipment charge of 
€49) for the first year, then €28 a month.
