SUSI grant applications continue to rise this year
The national student grant awarding body is expecting an increase in the number of applications for the forthcoming academic year.
More than 95,000 students had applied for funding from Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) before its deadline in the early hours of last Saturday morning - an increase of almost 3,000 from the same time last year.
A spokesman said they expect to receive another 15,000 late applications in the coming weeks.
"There are around 40,000 renewal applications and 50,000 new at this moment in time. But we are still expecting somewhere in the region of 110,000 applications. Last year we received 15,000 after the August 1 deadline," he added
