WITH all eyes focused on the World Cup, the higher level paper could hardly have been more up-to-date with a question on exchange rates for fans travelling to Brazil.
It was under the heading of inflation and trade and, having dealt with issues such as Irish inflation, visible import and invisible experts in parts (a) and (b), fans must surely have relished (c).
The question centred on a supporter (female) who wanted to convert €3,500 for her travels to Brazil – and candidates had to calculate how she would fare under different exchange rates for the Brazilian Real, on two dates in May and June.
David Duffy of the Teachers Union of Ireland (TUI) welcomed the topical nature of the question on a paper that he described as "very fair and reasonable". Mr Duffy said the ordinary level paper was "very student-friendly".
