Schools could use emojis to boost literacy

EmojiS could soon enter classrooms after two Limerick students have shown they could boost literacy levels.

Ciara Brouder and Victoria Brouder, from Desmond College, chose the idea when they saw literacy had not improved in 30 years.

"We decided we'd try to improve it with emojis, since everybody is using them in everyday life," said Victoria (13).

Almost all children tested saw improved results after trying the girls' emoji lessons.
