Moving day delay at Montrose

Published 19/08/2014 | 02:30

Fifty-eight students due to move into the newly built accommodation at the old Montrose Hotel site have been delayed.

Property management company Ziggurat Student Living planned to have all of the new rooms at the property ready by mid-September.

But construction delays mean the deadline for entering their new homes has been extended by two weeks.

The €22.5m project involved turning the well-known hotel into a 166-room complex for students.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed that 58 single rooms will not be ready on schedule.

"There were unforeseen delays that had a knock-on effect, like the weather," a spokesperson said.

Students affected have each been given €200 by way of compensation and will have a month's rent refunded to them.
