The National Parents Council post primary (NPCpp) freephone helpline - 1800 265 165 - opens today at 8am to deal with queries from students and parents. It will run for the next three days.

Members of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors are on hand to offer one-to-one advice to callers, to assist them in making informed choices, whether it is about a CAO offer or a related issue. A representative of the grants' body, SUSI, will also be available to answer questions.

The helpline is sponsored by the Irish Independent, eircom and the Department of Education and Skills.

To complement the helpline, Independent.ie will run an interactive CAO blog today from 8am, where guidance counsellors will also handle queries and concerns.

You can send questions to the blog itself, tweet queries via #IndoSubmit or send emails to contact@independent.ie. Submissions to the main Independent Facebook account will also be addressed.
