Choices and more choices

Congratulations to those who received a Round Two offer, providing a new choice about a path to their future. It may cause some head-scratching while a student decides whether it is the course they really want, in which case they should take the time and advice necessary to consider all the options, and what is best for them.
Others will be disappointed not to be in the round today, but they too have plenty of choices.
This supplement provides a snapshot of the possibilities out there, including stories of two of last year's Leaving Cert candidates who were disappointed not to get their top CAO choices in 2015. Guess what? They have both had a really good year on post-Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses and they got those offers this year.
PLCs are only one pathway; among others are the places still available on third-level courses, either via the CAO or through direct applications and the exciting new study and career routes are opening up via the revamped apprenticeship system. Some students may prefer to take a year out and, perhaps, work or go abroad to build their foreign language skills.
Good luck to all!
