Hundreds of calls to Exam Helpline

Published 15/08/2014 | 02:30

The Exam Helpline handled more than 300 calls yesterday as Leaving Certificate parents and students sought support and advice.

With students awaiting CAO Round One on Monday, concern about college offers and CAO procedures topped the list of queries.

Many callers also wanted information and advice on appealing the exam results, how to go about viewing exam scripts in advance, and the option of doing post-Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses

In a total of 310 calls, two-thirds of which were from parents, almost 500 separate queries were addressed.

The Exam Helpline - 1800 265 165 - is organised by the National Parents' Council post primary and sponsored by the Irish Independent and eircom.

The helpline, staffed by members of the Institute Guidance Counsellors and a representative the student grants body, SUSI, is open today from 10a.m. to 1pm.
