Linda Dunne from Colaiste Bhride in Carnew rang with the good news for Megan who was in Co Leitrim at the time on the Rose Tour that she had passed with flying colours and was in pole position to secure one of her top college choices.

"I was delighted because even though I probably won't get offered my first choice on the CAO, I should definitely get my third, a four-year degree in International Hospitality Management at DIT," Megan told the Irish Independent.

"It's all a bit surreal really. There's so much going on and the Leaving Cert results are happening in the middle of it.

"Then someone says, 'you did your Leaving Cert didn't you?' and it all comes back to me.

"Sometimes I have to remind myself as I almost forget about it."
