The focus will be on preparing children for entry to schools, and on English language skills for parents.

The Kildare and Wicklow Education Training Board (KWETB) will run classes in Kildare town and transport the refugees to and from their base at the Hazel Hotel, Monasterevin, Co Kildare.

After a 12-week period of orientation, the families will move to permanent accommodation in other locations, where children can enrol in local schools.

The KWETB has previous experience of dealing with refugees in the Naas area and will also tap into expertise within the City of Dublin ETB Refugee Access Programme.
