Eason to close store in capital

SHELVES were being cleared yesterday as one of the country's biggest booksellers prepares to close a shop next month.

Eason will shut its Talbot Street outlet in Dublin's city centre on March 10 as part of a restructuring programme aimed at saving €8.5m.

All 12 staff at the shop have been offered redeployment to another branch or can take voluntary redundancy.

A spokesman for Eason said there are no plans to close any more outlets and a cost-cutting scheme that will see up to 150 voluntary redundancies across the company has been agreed.
