E Coli found in dishcloths
MORE than a quarter of households are harbouring potentially dangerous bacteria in their dishcloths.
A study published yesterday by safefood has found that 27pc of household dishcloths contain E Coli and 14pc contain listeria, both of which can cause food poisoning.
The study was undertaken to warn consumers about the potential risks of poisoning from everyday kitchen habits.
It also found that just soaking dishcloths in water or in bleach cannot be relied on to kill such bacteria.
