One of the toughest races of its kind is to be held in Dublin this September.

The Sandstorm Race is a 5KM obstacle which organisers say will challenges runners both mentally and physically over its punishing course.

The event will take on Dollymount Stand on Saturday 6 September 2014 and consists of multiple course challenges like tyre mound, a netted pyramid, an eight-foot wall, and a Slip and Slide.

Organisers SPIN FM revealed the details of the race on the Ryan and Jenny Show this morning. CEO of SPIN1038 Jamie Crawford said:  “We wanted to create a unique and fun event to encourage community participation while also challenging people to get fit and have fun and so Sandstorm was born.”

Spaces are limited and registration costs  €10 to enter. Prizes will be available on the day.

Race check-in begins at 10am on Saturday, 6th September with race start at 12noon.

Those interested in competing in the race can register here.
