Dublin Bus gets nod to hike fares
BUS and rail passengers face higher fares after Dublin Bus was yesterday given permission to hike prices by up to 10c.
The National Transport Authority has approved an average increase of 2pc across all adult bus fares in the city.
It is also considering applications from Bus Eireann and Iarnrod Eireann to increase fares.
Iarnrod Eireann has sought a 5pc increase, while Bus Eireann wants to hike fares by 5c on services. A decision is expected in the coming weeks.
Dublin Bus cash fares will rise by up to 10c from Sunday, the second hike in two years.
Holders of weekly, monthly, annual and multi-trip tickets are not affected.
