Drug dealer's €36,000 given to Exchequer

Published 13/10/2012 | 05:00

A court has ordered that over €36,000 found in a convicted drug dealer's car and home should be confiscated and forfeited to the Exchequer.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that Thomas Delaney (41), of Walkinstown Crescent, Walkinstown, has previously served five years for possession of drugs for sale or supply.

Gardai had secured a warrant to search Delaney's home in June 2009 on the basis he was involved in drug trafficking.

His vehicle was stopped on June 25 that year and €9,300 was found hidden in the handbrake. That same day gardai executed the warrant to search his home and a further €27,000 was found in a child's bed.
