Drogheda stab victim dies in hospital

A man has died in hospital following a stabbing attack in Drogheda yesterday.

The 32-year-old was knifed in the town along with a 30-year-old woman, who suffered serious injuries.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in Drogheda late last night and is being held at the local garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The alarm was raised shortly after 2pm yesterday when gardai were called to an apartment in Fitzwilliam Court in Dyer Street.

Both victims were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, but the man was later transferred to St Vincent's in Dublin where he died in the early hours of this morning.

The woman remains in Our Lady of Lourdes but her injuries are said not to be life-threatening.

All three are believed to be of Pakistani origin.
