Driver hurt in Dundalk gardai probe

A motorist has been seriously injured as gardai tried to stop his car.

The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) confirmed it was examining the circumstances surrounding the road traffic incident in Dundalk.

A GSOC spokesman said the accident occurred as gardai sought to interview the driver of a car.

"The driver of the car was seriously injured when he did not stop and subsequently collided with another car," he said.

"The matter was referred to GSOC in accordance with section 102 of the Garda Siochana Act 2005.

"GSOC has a team in Dundalk conducting the investigation."
