Driver flees scene of head-on collision which leaves woman hospitalised

The driver of a car fled the scene of a head-on collision which left one person hospitalised on Sunday night.

The incident occurred at 8.35pm in the residential area of Blackditch Road in Ballyfermot, Dublin.

A Dublin Fire Brigade unit from Dolphin's Barn attended the scene shortly before 9pm.

Gardai confirmed to Independent.ie that a female was hospitalised following the incident, but her injuries are not believed to be serious.

She was the lone occupant of one of the cars involved in the incident.

It is understood a third vehicle parked nearby may have also been damaged in the collision.

The driver of the other car fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

Dublin Fire Brigade posted the images online, writing: "Always be prepared for the unexpected."
