Driver arrested following a fatal road accident in which 64-year-old pedestrian died

A 64-year-old man was killed today when he was struck by a car on the main N2 Dublin, Derry Road.

The driver of the car, a 51 year-old man was arrested at the scene just north of the border between Emyvale in Co. Monaghan and  Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone.

He was still being held this evening.

The victim was struck by a dark coloured Audi A4 just before 10.25 a.m .

The road between  Emvyale and Aughnacloy was temporarily closed but opened just after 5 pm.
