Doyle quits RTE after 33 years

RTE legend Anne Doyle will read her final newscast at 8.50pm on Christmas Day after 33 years in Montrose.
Ms Doyle, from Ferns Co Wexford, is a former English and History teacher. However, she pursued her interest in books, became a librarian and later joined the Department of Foreign Affairs.
She joined RTE in 1978 and read the news for the first time on Christmas Day that year. She has been one of the best-known and best-loved faces at the station ever since.
The 59-year-old availed of an early retirement package to leave RTE.
