WITH schools re-opening on Monday, thousands of Leaving Certificate students, as well as other college hopefuls, are focusing on their CAO choices.
The deadline for CAO applications is Friday, February 1, and, in coming weeks, important decisions will be taken.
The Irish Independent is publishing a 16-page 'Going to College 2013' supplement on Monday to help CAO applicants navigate their way through the enormous array of courses available, in over 40 third-level institutions.
The special supplement will include a unique table by Irish Independent career guidance expert Mary O'Donnell, giving a breakdown of options by course category, as well as a host of other information and advice for prospective students.
The up-to-date list of about 1,300 courses takes account of changes since last year and offers applicants an easy guide to all the degree and certificate programmes available in their areas of interest.
But going to college is not only an option for school-leavers. The CAO is attracting an increasing number of applications from mature students and those who progress to college from further education, such as Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses.
