Don't ditch the sandals just yet
KEEP the sun cream and sandals on hand as summery conditions are set to continue.
Much of the country basked in sunshine yesterday, after early-morning fog burned off, allowing the sun to shine through by midday sending the mercury soaring to 23C in some parts of the east. Hot spots included Dublin's Phoenix Park and Oak Park in Carlow while it hit a pleasant 20C at Shannon Airport.
While it was cooler in parts of Connacht and Ulster, everywhere else enjoyed pleasant late summer temperatures of between 16C and 20C.
And the good news is today will also see significant sunshine, although it won't seem quite as hot. Top temperatures will remain in the high teens and low 20s today, but will gradually fall by tomorrow, according to Met Eireann.
