Don't be fooled by the unseasonal sunny weather - brollies will be needed from Sunday.

Met Éireann described the sunshine which warmed the country to 19C yesterday as "exceptional".

However, forecasters have warned to have umbrellas at the ready. Widespread dense fog will be slow to lift this morning but will make way for a pleasant sunny day.

While the mercury won't hit yesterday's high, it will be a pleasing 13C to 16C.

Saturday will be dry but cloud will cause the temperature to fall resulting in highs of 14 degrees.

Sunday will also start dry in the morning but rain will push across the country in the afternoon, ending the recent fine spell.

Met Éireann forecaster Willemien Phelan said the colours of autumn will arrive next week. "It reached 19C [yesterday] which is quite exceptional for October.

"Leaves will be ready to fall on Sunday. Drains will start to block up with the leaves as soon as heavy rain starts," said the forecaster.
