Dog sniffs out drugs at port
A SNIFFER dog is being credited with the discovery of more than €300,000 worth of drugs in a car at a ferry port.
Officers from the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service said their new dog, Ralph, who joined the unit two weeks ago, led them to the discovery yesterday of 53kg of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €319,000.
The vehicle had arrived in Rosslare, Co Wexford, on a ferry from France. The drugs were discovered after the car was scanned by the unit's X-ray scanner.
A Ukrainian national was arrested.
