Doctors to meet HSE over plans for strike action
Junior doctors are to meet with HSE management again next week to draw up contingency plans for hospitals that will be hit by a one-day national strike later this month.
The Irish Medical Organisation said a meeting took place yesterday and further talks with managers are planned for next week to fine-tune the details for the emergency-level medical cover.
The HSE has referred it to the Labour Relations Commission and no date has yet been fixed for any talks.
The doctors are due to stage the one-day national strike on September 25 and will have rolling strikes from the following week.
They want an end of shifts of more than 24 hours and a commitment to a 48-hour working week by the end of next year.
