Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body which was found by two diving crews on a training exercise off the coast of Clare.
The Burren and Limerick Sub Aqua Clubs made the discovery at approximately 3pm yesterday afternoon, while on a training exercise off the Cliffs of Moher.
Two of the Burren Sub Aqua divers found the body in approximately 25m of water.
They came to the surface and raised the alarm with Gardaí and the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard.
Two divers, one from each of the clubs, then undertook another dive to recover the body to the surface.
Gardaí have not yet identified the body, but it is believed to be of a woman who has been in the water for some time.
