Divers have been called in to aid in the search for a lobster fisherman feared missing off the Mayo coast.
Search efforts are focused on an area close to where the 24-year-old’s empty boat was found at Broadhaven Bay on Friday evening.
The 30-ft half decker was discovered adrift near the shoreline with its power and lights still on.
Two dive teams have today joined the search, while two lifeboats, two coast guard vessels and four teams on foot are also searching the shoreline.
The Shannon helicopter and 13 local fishing boats are also assisting.
Yesterday rough conditions hampered the search but conditions so far today have been described as good.
The search resumed this morning at 6 am and is expected to continue late into the evening.
The alarm was raised on Friday evening by a relative of the missing man, who contacted the coastguard when he did not return home from a fishing trip yesterday evening.
He had been expected to return to shore at 5 pm.
The main search area is centred on Benwee Head and Broadhaven Bay approximately 15 miles north of Belmullet.
