A TOWN that attracted international headlines after its giant snowman was stolen is disappearing under a growing pile of uncollected refuse.
Rubbish is piled high in and around the street litter bins of Wicklow town because no bin has been emptied since the week before Christmas – and there will be no collections until after the New Year.
Fianna Fail councillor Gail Dunne described the condition of the main shopping street in the town as an "absolute disgrace''.
Business people and others feel efforts to enhance the town for Christmas and attract people are being ruined with rubbish strewn around the streets because bulging bins can take no more.
There will not be a refuse collection in Wicklow town until Wednesday.
