Derry games off after referee dies during a hurling match


All GAA games in Derry have been postponed this weekend following the death of a referee during a huling match at Swatragh.

Martin Mulholland from Slaughtneil collapsed while refereeing the championship quarter-final between Dungiven and Balinascreen on Friday evening.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene, using a defibrillator, but died later at Coleraine hospital.

Derry PRO Chris McCann said: "There is a deep sense of sadness and a deep sense of loss that the county has lost such a good gael. Our thoughts are with his family and how they are coping."

Mr Mulholland is survived by his wife and four sons.
