UP to 3,000 commuters were affected this evening after a truck struck a bridge.
The truck struck Sarsfield bridge around 5.20pm this evening causing all rail services coming in and out of Heuston Station to be stopped.
The bridge was re-opened about an hour later after it was checked for structural damage.
Barry Kenny for Irish Rail apologised to those affected saying that “up to 3000 passengers were affected and we apologise to people for that.”
“We had to close the bridge for an hour while we checked for structural damage,” he added.
