Data firm has global offices

U-Scribe describes itself as a "digital transcription service provider" to the medical and legal professions in Ireland and the UK.

It has offices in Sandyford in Dublin as well as London, Florida and the Philippines, and was founded by an American professor of surgery.

Doctors can dictate their notes either by phone or using a dictaphone and the company transcribes it and then emails it back to the doctor within 24 hours.

On its website, the company said it provided a "fully automated, highly secure transcription service".

It says all data is encrypted and that it is compliant with data protection legislation.

The company says it provides financial and time savings.
