TODAY FM DJ Ray D'Arcy has warned that politicians are only paying "lip service" to the problem of suicide despite promises of action.
The radio broadcaster – who highlights the issues of depression and mental health often on his show – said he believed more effort would be made in 2013 to get to grips with the issue
"As a country we need to get hold of this topic and the mental health issue and unfortunately our politicians have been paying lip service to this for a long time," the DJ said.
Ray was speaking at an event for depression support group Aware.
Aware revealed it had reached out to more than 18,500 students in secondary schools throughout the country to deliver its revamped 'Beat the Blues' programme, over the past four months.
