Dana gets her name on another ticket

PRESIDENTIAL candidate Dana Rosemary Scallon still isn't having much luck with her election car.

Yesterday, she was hit with a €40 fine for illegal parking -- days after having a blow-out on a motorway.

The Peugeot 508 was parked outside St Peter's Church in Drogheda, Co Louth, as the independent candidate sought support in a nearby shopping centre.

The church is famous for its shrine to St Oliver Plunkett, whose head is mounted in a glass case. But husband Damien didn't 'lose the head' when local traffic warden Eddie McGuirk issued the ticket.

As Dana later walked towards the church, one local wag shouted: "Looks like someone has given you their No 1."

Another witness said: "Damien removed the ticket but Dana crossed the road and went into the chapel. He didn't appear too upset about it.

Last week the election candidate and her husband had claimed that a tyre which blew out on the car on a trip from Leitrim to Dublin had been tampered with.

But gardai who investigated the incident said there was no evidence of a crime.
