Dad's on hand as Ramadan ends
AFTER a month of daily fasting, Muslim children were in a jubilant mood yesterday as they celebrated the festival of Eid, marking the end of Ramadan.
Little Zwad Leumi (4) and his father Kamal attended Clonskeagh Mosque in Dublin, where special prayers of thanksgiving were said.
Iman Yahya Al-Hussein, of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland, said that up to 45,000 Muslims had celebrated Eid in Ireland.
"It marks the end of the month-long fasting of Ramadan so it is a time of thanksgiving," he said.
"Celebrations were held during morning prayers in mosques all over the country and after that there was the giving of presents to the children."
