A MIDDLE-aged truck driver died when he suffered severe crush injuries at a grain depot.
The 42-year-old suffered fatal injuries in the accident at the Waterlands Shipping & Warehousing Depot in Kinsale, Co Cork, just before 1pm yesterday.
He has been named as John Rice from Ballincollig. His wife Valerie and children were last night being comforted by relatives.
It is understood the accident happened as Mr Rice's vehicle was being loaded. He apparently became trapped between the rear of his truck and a machine loading grain into the trailer.
The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation.
