TWENTY apartments will go on sale for just €170,000 each in Dublin 4 from today but a buyer will need €3.4m to buy the lot.

The Donnybrook apartments are located at Errigal House, one of a number of apartment blocks off the upmarket Eglinton Road and just five minutes walk from Ailesbury Road, one of the most salubrious addresses in the country.

A similar two-bedroom apartment in a nearby block is currently going for €495,000, or almost three times the price being sought by receiver Kieran Wallace of KPMG. But selling agent Savills insists they will only be sold off in a single batch.

Originally built in the 1970s, Errigal House comprises a small studio flat, four one-bedroom apartments and 15 two-bedroom apartments. The block was acquired by a division of the Glenford group in 2005 for around €9m and the company invested a substantial amount in modernising the flats.

Meanwhile, the second cheapest apartments in Ireland have arrived on the market for less than €56,000 at Summerhill, Carrick-on-Shannon. They include three-bedroom town houses for €75,900.

The cheapest apartments in Ireland at Redbarn, Youghal, Co Cork , priced at €40,000, but are restricted for use as rented holiday homes.
