Cullen waits on car scrappage payout

BILL Cullen claimed yesterday he has yet to "see a penny" from the Government's scrappage deal on new cars.

The Renault dealer said he has given €1,500 discounts to customers buying new cars since January.

However, Mr Cullen (right) said he has yet to see any of the money back, which now amounts to €340,000.

"They were supposed to pay us every three days but we haven't seen a penny yet," said Cullen. The millionaire businessman said this was due to a civil servants' go-slow.

A spokesman for the Revenue Commissioners said this week: "We're working through the backlog at the moment."
