Cruise passenger search ends

THE US coast guard has ended a search for a missing Irishman who is suspected to have fallen overboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

The alarm was raised after the man, named by the US coast guard as 67-year-old Irishman Dominic William O'Carroll, was reported missing on Monday morning.

Passengers of the "Croisières de France" Horizon cruise had reported seeing a person or large object going overboard.

A massive air and sea search was then launched.

However, the US coast guard confirmed the search had ended on Tuesday after the man could not be found.
