Over 100 Gardaí have raided 20 homes in Limerick as part of major clampdown on crime gangs
Armed Gardaí have launched a major offensive against three gangs involved in organised crime this morning
Over 100 officers, including members of the armed Regional Support Unit, raided 20 homes across Limerick city.
A senior source explained that officers were targeting three gangs involved in the use of firearms; the distribution of drugs and; intimidation of the general community.
Independent.ie has learned that members of the Dundon/McCarthy and Keane/Collopy gangs were targeted as part of this latest crime raid.
One man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with this investigation and is currently detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
A number of items including mobile phones, laptops were seized during the operation.
