Manhunt underway after shots fired at home where woman and two kids were sleeping overnight

A garda investigation has been launched after shots were fired at a home overnight.

Independent.ie has learned that a woman, a teenage boy and a female child were asleep when the house was struck.

Two shots were fired at a house in The Green, Dunboyne, Co Meath at about 4.15am.

A garda spokesman confirmed that there were nobody was injured in the attack but the front sitting room window and door were damaged.

"Two shots were discharged at a house at The Green, Dunboyne Castle, Co. Meath. 

"There were no injuries to any person during this incident. Damage was caused to the front sitting room window and door. A dark red or maroon coloured car was seen driving away from the scene at the time of the shooting."

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information on the incident or who might have seen any suspicious activity in the area around Dunboyne Castle housing estate in the early hours of this morning to contact Ashbourne Garda Station at 01-8010600, the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda station
