Man (38) stabbed in the head and neck at house party last night

A man was lucky to survive after he was stabbed in the head and neck during a fight at a Dublin house party last night.

The 38-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the incident at Martello Park, Balbriggan shortly after 10.15pm.

It's understood that a dispute broke out between two men who were both attending a house party in the estate.

The injured man suffered a number of serious stab wounds to his head and neck during the fight.

He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he is still undergoing treatment.

His injuries have been described as "serious but not life threatening".

A source said the man lost a substantial amount of blood following the attack.

A garda spokesman said officers in Balbriggan were investigating the assault.

It is believed that no formal statement or complaint has been made to gardaí at this point.
