Fresh appeal issued for couple who vanished exactly one year ago

Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for a couple who are missing presumed murdered ahead of the first anniversary of their disappearance.

Willie Maughan (34) and his partner Anna Varslavane (21) - who is originally from Latvia - were last seen in the Gormanston area of Co Meath on the afternoon of April 14 last year.

It is feared they were abducted and murdered by a criminal gang.

Gardai said the pair had been living in Gormanstown and but planned to leave there to live in the Tallaght area.

The couple were expecting their first child when they disappeared.

Willie is described as 5' 8”, of athletic build, with shaved head and green eyes while Anna is 5’6” in height, of slim build, with long dark hair.

A spokesman said this evening: "Gardaí remain extremely concerned for their welfare and safety and again ask anyone with information to contact the incident room at Ashbourne Garda Station on 01-8010600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station."
